Six soldiers injured in riots in Sri Lanka

A total of 16 soldiers were injured in protests near the parliament building in the capital of Sri Lanka - Colombo, the representative of the ground forces of Sri Lanka, Nilantha Premaratne, said in a statement, Report informs, citing foreign media.
The soldiers were attacked with iron and wooden sticks, and lost consciousness from their injuries, after which the attackers took away two rifles from them along with ammunition, Premaratne said as quoted by the Sri Lankan Daily Mirror newspaper. The military spokesman said that, at present, the wounded are in stable condition.
The number of victims during mass protests in Sri Lanka, held in Colombo, has reached 103 people.
A state of emergency has been declared in Sri Lanka due to protests.
