RT France intends to appeal the decision of the EU court, which dismissed on July 27 its lawsuit challenging the Council of the European Union's ban on broadcasting in connection with support for the invasion of Ukraine, Report informs citing TASS.
"RT France has decided to appeal this decision to the EU Court of Justice in order for the rights of the channel to be recognized," reads the statement of the TV channel.
"The TV channel is challenging this court decision, which is contrary to freedom of expression," said RT France lawyer Emmanuel Piwnica.
According to France Press, after the closure of RT in Germany at the end of 2021, France was the only country in the European Union to receive the TV channel on its territory.
On July 27, the European General Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by RT France against the Council of the EU for imposing a temporary ban on broadcasting, adopted after the start of a war in Ukraine. The members of the court considered it reasonable to restrict the principle of freedom of speech in relation to RT France.
