Poll shows slight decline in Macron’s chances in future elections

Another public opinion poll on the prospects of candidates for the upcoming presidential elections in France showed that the remaining leadership of Emmanuel Macron, who has not yet declared himself an official candidate, has slightly decreased, Report informs with reference to Interfax.

A poll by research and consultancy center Elabe commissioned by BFMTV and L'Express magazine shows that Macron is still ahead of potential rivals with less than two months to go in the first round of voting.

Macron, who received 24% of the vote in the forecast, lost two points in a week. However, his lead over the rest of the contenders remains convincing.

The leader of the right-wing National Rally, Marine Le Pen, who follows him, gains 15%, losing half a percentage point.

Center-right Republican candidate Valerie Pecresse lost one point to 14% of those who wanted to vote for her.

Eric Zemmour, leader of the far-right Reconquest party, won an additional half a percentage point in a week and, according to Elabe's forecast, receives 13.5% of the hypothetical votes.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the left-wing La France insoumise, who is ahead of other outsiders, is gaining an additional half a percentage point and receives 10.5%. Commenting on this result, the BFMTV channel notes that, although this is a very modest weekly progress of 0.5 points, in three weeks he has risen in the rating by 1.5 percent.
