The monsoon rains causing massive flooding across Pakistan are “unprecedented in the last 30 years,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday, Report informs, citing foreign media.
“There is an ocean of floodwater everywhere,” the premier said as he toured badly hit areas in the north to direct relief operations.
According to the latest data, at least 1,061 people became victims of the natural calamity, 33 million people were affected by the floods, and about 1 million houses were damaged.
Pakistani authorities say this year's floods are worse than in 2010, when 1,700 people died as a result of the natural disaster.
