Over 1,300 people detained in Ecuador after riots started

Ecuador’s armed forces and police have detained 1,327 people since prison riots broke out, Report informs referring to TASS.
“Between January 9 and January 14, 2024, 1,327 suspects were detained, 143 of them on suspicion of terrorism. Five terrorists were eliminated, 11 police officers were released, two police officers died in the line of duty,” reads the statement.
Security forces seized almost 500 firearms, about the same number of bombs and more than 5 tons of narcotic substances. They also released 11 police officers and 201 correctional officers.
