The Moldovan authorities have submitted for public discussion a national action plan for accession to the European Union (EU), Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said, Report informs via Moldovan media.
“This document represents an important stage in our country’s European path, replacing all previous steps and clearly reflecting our national goal - to prepare the Republic of Moldova for accession to the EU by 2030,” Popescu said.
According to him, this is a decisive step towards strengthening the republic’s ties “with the European family, and it will form the basis of the accession process through which we adapt and integrate European legislation into national legislation.”
“We are currently in the process of assessing the compliance of national legislation with European legislation and transferring the necessary documents to the institutions responsible for their implementation. The plan will be significantly finalized after the assessment process carried out jointly with the European Commission,” he emphasized.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, signed an application for the republic’s accession to the EU in March 2022, noting that the process of European integration needs to be accelerated. The European Commission has set nine conditions for Moldova that the country must fulfill to join the union.
