The Ministry of Defense of Moldova intends to take over land near Chișinău for the construction of a permanent military camp, such an initiative will be considered at a meeting of the Government of the Republic on January 31, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
According to the draft government decree, two plots of land near the commune of Bacoi (part of the municipality of Chisinau), which are under the jurisdiction of the Ministries of Education and Agriculture, should be transferred to the Ministry of Defense for the construction of permanent military camp No. 136. The opposition Vozrozhdenie Party called for a peaceful protest in Chișinău.
"In cooperation with development partners, military experts from the United States and Romania, a concept and feasibility study of the project for the reconstruction and arrangement of permanent military camp No. 136 near Baca was developed," the justification for the draft resolution published on the government's website says.
