Islamophobia in the modern world is like a bomb ready to explode at any moment, the director of the European Arab Academy of Geostrategic Studies in Paris, Mohammed El Maazouz, said at the “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” international conference in Baku, Report informs.
El Maazouz noted that Islamophobia dates back to the 13th century: "Islamophobia is associated with the goals of the state. Today, Islamophobia is an official policy. This is most evident in the war in Palestine. In France, anti-Semitism is considered a crime under the law. We believe that the laws will change."
The expert also said that according to statistics, hate speech against Muslims has increased by 31% compared to previous years.
"The level of Islamophobia is increasing by 3% every 3 months. It is impossible to predict what level it will reach in 10 years, and this is a matter of serious concern. If Europe does not change its strategy, France will face a civil war in 10 years," El Maazouz said.
