The French authorities do not intend to change their position and withdraw troops from Chad, French President's Africa envoy Jean-Marie Bockel said commenting on the results of negotiations with the President of the Transitional Period of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby.

According to Report, the envoy said the French government is ready to cooperate with the Chadian authorities to adapt the security system in the region.

"The President has given me the task of working with N'Djamena to adapt and develop our contingent in order to better adapt to the security challenges in the region. It is not just a matter of numbers, we must stay and we will stay," he said.

There are currently about 1,000 French soldiers in Chad.
