Lavrov: Global decolonization not complete

The right of nations to self-determination, enshrined in the UN Charter, has not been fully implemented, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on January 14 at a press conference, Report informs.
"Today, there are 17 non-self-governing territories in the world. There is a special UN General Assembly Committee on Decolonization that meets annually to reaffirm the need to complete the decolonization process. In particular, numerous resolutions were adopted regarding the island of Mayotte, which the French, contrary to UN decisions, do not want to return to the Comoros, the state of Mauritius, and many others," he said.
Lavrov emphasized that the right of nations to self-determination is the foundation of the decolonization process.
