Italy, one of the 10 members of the US-led naval task force in the Red Sea, says it will send over one of its frigates to help protect the contentious waters, Report informs via Al Jazeera.
“Italy will do its part, together with the international community, to counter the terrorist destabilisation activity of the Houthis,” said Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in a statement.
The Italian statement came as Yemen’s Houthis warned they could wage a new attack in the Red Sea every 12 hours, dismissing the impact of the US-led naval coalition.
“As for naval operations, they are in full swing, and perhaps not 12 hours would pass without an operation,” the group’s spokesperson and top negotiator Mohammed Abdulsalam told Al Jazeera.
