French foreign ministry: BRICS summit in Kazan is concerning signal

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has expressed concern about the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Report informs via TASS.

Barrot made this statement during his speech at the conference of French ambassadors in Paris.

"The success of the BRICS meeting in Kazan is a new warning that we cannot ignore, even though its members don't share a common vision of the future," Barrot said. He called for not wasting time on reforming multilateral relations, stating that there is no time now "to make the strong more just and the just stronger."

"I hope that when our country chairs the G7 in 2026, we will complete the most important work on the future of the world and global governance. At a time when the UN's 80th anniversary is being celebrated, we must move forward decisively to ensure our African partners have their rightful place in global governance, the Security Council, and international financial institutions," he added.

The 16th BRICS summit was held in Kazan on October 22-24, 2024.
