EU eyes sending peacekeeping mission to Niger

The European Union (EU) is considering deploying a peacekeeping mission to resolve the conflict in Niger's Sahel region, Report informs via Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
According to Welt am Sonntag, the decision can be made in mid-December. The mission is expected to be sent to the region next year and operate for three years.
The aim will be to train, support and arm the Nigerien armed forces. The funds are expected to be allocated from the European Peace Fund, which currently co-finances the supply of arms from EU countries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
