Diplomatic missions and all guests were evacuated from the five-star hotel Ar-Rashid in the center of Baghdad after a fire broke out there, Report informs via Shafaq News portal.
A source in the local security forces reported that hotel guests were forced to leave the building due to a fire in the kitchen. The fire was localized, all guests returned to their rooms. Information about the victims and the causes of the incident is not provided.
The 18-story hotel Ar-Rashid is located in the so-called green zone of Baghdad (the district of the Iraqi capital, where state institutions and foreign diplomatic missions are located) and belongs to the hotel operator Golden Tulip Hotels. Prior to this, the hotel was managed by the French operator Accor and was called Rixos Al Rasheed Baghdad. Employees of various media often stay at this hotel due to its proximity to the main state and diplomatic facilities of Baghdad.
