ANAMA names most mined areas in Fuzuli

"Currently, the asphalt road is being restored in Fuzuli. For this reason, we mainly clear mines on the road passing through the line of contact. Only after that, the asphalt line will be expanded and repaired," said Madat Mammadov, operational manager of clearing group No. 1 of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).

According to him, the cleaning is carried out in several ways: "One of them is manual cleaning, in which employees use detectors and other devices. The second method is to search for unexploded ordnance in the area using specially trained dogs. The third method is mechanical mine clearance. Cleaning operations are currently underway. Exploded ammunition in the territory was found and detonated at the end of the day."

The ANAMA official said that currently, 13 km in the area is considered the most dangerous area: "8 km of the area has already been cleared of mines. Work is presently started on 5 km. Most mines are on the line of contact. There are about 8-9 minefields closest to the line of contact.
