A strike by pilots of Eurowings, a subsidiary of the German carrier Lufthansa, has led to the cancellation of more than 120 flights on October 18, Report informs referring to the DPA agency.
To the greatest extent, the strike affected air harbors in Germany. As many as 84 flights out of 160 planned were canceled in Dusseldorf, 35 flights out of 63 were canceled at the airport of Cologne and Bonn. About 100 more flights are expected to be canceled on October 19.
Earlier, the union of pilots and flight attendants Vereinigung Cockpit called for a three-day strike. The association seeks to improve the working conditions of employees by increasing rest hours. The employer has already agreed to give the pilots 10 extra days off, and the union wants 14.
Eurowings operates 500 flights a day on average, carrying between 50,000 and 70,000 passengers.
