Emil Majidov: Opening of Zangazur Corridor is restoration of historical justice 

Restoration of the Zangazur Corridor will return the South Caucasus region to its former role of connecting East and West, Azerbaijani expert Emil Majidov told journalists on the sidelines of the Caspian Week Forum 2023, Report informs.

The Zangazur Corridor once served as a reliable route connecting the Soviet Union with the Middle East. Our goal with the corridor is to restore the broken links," Majidov said.

According to him, the opening of the Zangazur Corridor for Azerbaijan is not only an economic necessity but also the restoration of historical justice: "The Caucasus must return to its natural state and become a space connecting different parts of the world."

Majidov also noted that Azerbaijan was the first country in the Caspian region to fully realize the potential of its maritime sector: "Azerbaijan was the first country to create a connection between the Caspian Sea and the world oil and gas markets. It also stands out as a leading country in the construction of a network of international airports in a relatively small area. We have built the largest and most modern port on the Caspian Sea. Now Azerbaijan is actively engaged in the restoration of the Zangazur corridor, which is of great importance for the Caspian region. Thus, Azerbaijan remains a leader in the issue of connecting and integrating the Caspian Sea into the world economy."
