World leaders in microchip exports announced

The leaders in global microchip exports in 2023 were Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, China and South Korea, Report informs via the BM Comtrade platform.

Hong Kong became the main exporter of chips by supplying chips worth $193.5 billion annually in 2023 and maintained the world leadership in chip exports for a decade. The top five countries were Taiwan, which exported goods worth $166.6 billion, Singapore ($137.9 billion), China ($136.3 billion) and South Korea ($86.1 billion). China became the leader in imports, purchasing microchips for $350.1 billion a year.

According to available data, Russia exported over $14.5 million worth of microchips in 2023, ranking 56th in the world in terms of sales volumes. Russian imports exceeded $437.5 million, placing Russia 42nd in the world.

Formerly Semiconductor Industry Association of America (SIA) reported that at the end of 2023, global semiconductor sales decreased by 8.2% compared to 2022, which was a record year, reaching 526.8 billion dollars.
