Uzbekistan has proposed to begin practical implementation of the initiative to create a Digital Transport and Customs Agency, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Report informs.
"Recent geopolitical events have once again shown how high the risk of failure of international logistics chains is, as well as the strategic importance of forming alternative transport corridors," he said.
In this context, Mirziyoyev noted the importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, launched last year, with the prospect of its integration with the Trans-Afghan Corridor.
"We believe that the time has come to begin practical implementation of the initiative to create a Digital Transport and Customs Agency in order to establish a systemic approach to digitalization of the transport and logistics sector, and we advocate intensifying negotiations at the expert level," he emphasized.
The president of Uzbekistan also added that the current tasks are the opening of new air routes in the region, the introduction of innovative formats of cooperation between airlines, the development of integrated marketing strategies between the spheres of tourism and aviation. To discuss these issues, Uzbekistan proposes to hold a forum of national airlines in Samarkand, he said.
