Azerbaijan's current steps are very important signals for the European Union (EU), the head of the Romanian Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Center, Iulian Chifu, told Report.
Chifu emphasized that hosting the climate conference by an oil-producing country is a very important issue: "Armenia has withdrawn its candidacy for Azerbaijan's hosting of COP29, which indicates progress in bilateral relations between the two countries. COP29 also shows that Azerbaijan has accepted one of the main messages and policies of the EU. Thus, the fight against global warming and climate change is as important and a priority issue for the EU as the protection of human rights. Therefore, Azerbaijan's current steps are very important signals for the EU.
The analyst believes that these are both openness and very important signals in the direction of finding solutions that Azerbaijan can achieve in bilateral relations and the peace process.
"All this increases the reputation of Azerbaijan, which is interested in investing in green energy and fighting global warming, despite being an oil country. Oil countries are joining the fight against global warming, and we appreciate these steps forward," he added.
