The Seychelles has an effective platform of non-governmental organizations, which can be called a successful model of civil society cooperation, Head of the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS) Odile de Comarmond said at a panel discussion within the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform in Baku, Report informs.
"We coordinate the activities of all our NGOs, distributing them across four commissions - in the field of environmental protection, social issues, education and other areas. This structure allows us to implement projects more effectively," Odile de Comarmond said.
According to her, one of the key achievements of CEPS was the creation in 2018 of a national grant to finance civil initiatives aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
"Annually, 750,000 Seychelles rupees are allocated to support NGOs. Projects undergo strict selection and control, and only with successful reporting can organizations count on further funding," the head of CEPS emphasized.
