Media: New corruption scandal “Armeniangate” brewing in Europe

It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the Europe-Armenia friendship group and its ties with the head of the biggest pro-Armenian organization in Europe, the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD), Kaspar Karampetyan, Report informs referring to the Belgian LE VIF.

Qatargate corruption scandal that has shaken Europe is probably only at an early stage and makes it necessary to think about repeating history, only this time it will be “Armeniangate”.

According to private sources in Brussels, the former president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, notorious from the Qatargate case, constantly acted on behalf of other countries, including Armenia.

The article notes that in November last year, a group of parliamentarians in France signed a resolution accusing Azerbaijan of committing “aggression against Armenia” and “violating its territorial integrity.” At the same time, 33 signatories, including Eva Kaili, are members of the Europe-Armenia Friendship Group, which is closely associated with EAFJD.

It is no coincidence that the head of the EAFJD, Karampetyan, chose Brussels for his business. He is well known in Belgium for his diamond business: “In Belgium, he bought jewelry stores. (…) Karampetian has created an extensive and bloody “diamond trading” network. From the conflict regions of Africa, he smuggled colored oblong diamonds into Belgium, which were then faceted. And then the diamonds are certified according to the painstakingly crafted bribery scheme and go onto the shelves of branded boutiques in Europe.”

“According to other private sources, part of the millionaire’s resources were used to support the armed action of the Karabakh separatists, the very people who had occupied the region since 1992, contrary to international law,” reads the article.

Also, everyone is used to Kaspar Karampetyan’s meetings with the separatist leaders of Karabakh and raising money for their regime. In addition, the EAFJD invited the separatist representatives of Karabakh to Strasbourg and Brussels.

“Once close to the Armenian terrorist organization ASALA, he had played a leading role in efforts to legitimize the occupation regime in European political salons for years, and by the way in the European Parliament. During a gala evening in Brussels, he even boasted a few years ago of having raised 3.8 million euros to support Armenian separatism. He is known for having offered a number of representatives of institutions trips to Armenia and Karabakh to discredit Azerbaijan in particular,” the author wrote.

“Once again, we can clearly see that the European Union is swimming in troubled waters and must urgently review all the rules that govern its relations with pressure groups and shadow lobbyists. This has been going on for years, without any real sanctions being applied to punish those responsible. The opaque relations that unite the Europe-Armenia friendship group, the individuals who lead it, such as the relations with the businessman Karampetyan are the new best example,” reads the article.
