On one hand, the US provides food aid to the Palestinians, on the other hand, it sells weapons to Israel, the President of the United Nations General Assembly’s 57th session, Jan Kavan, said at the panel session of the 11th Global Baku Forum on War and Peace: The Return of "Realpolitik,” Report informs.
"Conflicts are interconnected. The big powers seem to be fueling these conflicts, and the UN cannot tolerate these powers," the ex-president added.
Jan Kavan stressed that the UN is fighting against armed conflicts.
"We decided to strengthen the role of the UN in the prevention of armed conflicts, which increases the role of the UN General Assembly. The activity of the UN in this direction is aimed at solving armed conflicts," he noted.
According to Kavan, today everyone is witnessing the war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the conflicts in Gaza and Sudan: "We should use new mechanisms to eliminate tensions at the international level. The US, on one hand, provides food aid to the Palestinians today, and on the other hand, it sells weapons to Israel. We need to get rid of this paradox. We need to take steps to promote peace in the Middle East and Ukraine."
