Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by David Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the second-highest leadership body of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Utah, US, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the minister noted that as a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional country, Azerbaijan is a country where people of all religions live in peace and tranquility, and Azerbaijan has become one of the global centers of intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue.
Bayramov informed about the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and ethnic cleansing activities in the 30-year period, as well as the provision of peace and stability, restoration and construction work of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. Attempts to obstruct the process by Armenia and ongoing mine threats were emphasized.
David Bednar said that he is aware of Azerbaijan's traditions of tolerance and multiculturalism and its important initiatives that contribute to interreligious dialogue and that the values of Azerbaijani society are essential at the current time when discrimination on the basis of religion, race, and ethnicity is especially acute at the international level. He emphasized that they are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan within the various programs of the church.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
