France committed brutal crimes in the countries it colonized, the founder and editor-in-chief of the French news portal Musulmans en France, Jean-Michel Brun, said at an international conference titled “Decolonization: Empowerment and Development of Women,” organized by the Baku Initiative Group, Report informs.
"In 1958, women in Algeria were forced to take off their veils, supposedly this is a symbol of freedom. But true freedom is that women can choose how to dress themselves," he said.
According to Brun, Azerbaijan is an excellent example of gender equality.
“In Azerbaijan, women work equally with men. This is one of the proofs of gender equality in Azerbaijani society,” he said.
