Independent Martinique Movement: 'France took everything from us'

After France came to America, it took everything away from us, Claudette Duhamel, representative of the Movement of Environmentalists and Democrats for an Independent Martinique, said at the international conference “Neo-colonialism: violation of human rights and injustice”, organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), Report informs.

She said that France invaded their souls as well: "After France came to America, they took everything from us. They used colonialism only for their own interests. They treated us like furniture, our bodies did not belong to us. Therefore, French colonialism is the worst colonial policy."

Claudette Duhamel noted that France took away their cultural heritage: "They took not only our land, but also our culture, and human qualities. Our economy was damaged. 90 percent of our population was poisoned as a result of the toxic substances they applied. Many people contracted cancer. France does not allow doctors to speak about this issue".

The guest thanked Azerbaijan for the opportunities created for the speech.
