The position of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding the fact that Armenia must make changes to its constitution is correct and fair, first Deputy General Director of the Russian news agency TASS Mikhail Gusman told Report in Shusha.
“How is it possible to conclude a peace treaty with a country whose constitution contains territorial claims to your country?! This is an obvious contradiction,” he noted.
Gusman added that he saw messages from which it is clear that “Prime Minister Pashinyan already understands this, and another thing is that maybe this didn't find support of the entire Armenian society, but this is a matter for the Armenian authorities.”
“The position of President Ilham Aliyev is clear, it is absolutely objective and corresponds to international realities,” Gusman said, noting that, in his opinion, Armenia will take this step.
“This will inevitably happen, sooner or later. That's because in the constitution of any country there cannot be territorial claims to another country with which you want to make peace. This is impossible. This means that there will be no peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which is worse only for Armenia itself.
Armenia is a losing side, and moreover, much weaker than Azerbaijan in all respects: economically, politically, not to mention the military component. This was proven during the 44-day war. Of course, Armenian society has been under negative ideological influence for a long time, but now it seems to me that sobering up is coming,” added the first deputy general director of TASS.
