The challenges faced by the Global South should be resolved through the power of culture and media, rather than weapons, Cecile Guidote Alvarez, Director of the Philippine International Center, asserted, Report informs.
She made these remarks during the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform held in Baku.
“We can no longer afford delays; there is no room for excuses,” Alvarez stated.
She highlighted a communication gap, noting that UN documents and agreements often fail to reach the general public: "This is a weakness in communication. Therefore, everyone should be involved in these processes. We need to bring creative individuals to the forefront, allowing culture to take a leading role. Solutions to problems should arise from the power of culture and media, not from the power of weapons."
Alvarez also stressed the importance of unity in addressing these issues: "The NGO coalition must prioritize these matters, as their support is crucial."
