Latvia has a special relationship with Azerbaijan, and the presence of five former presidents of this country at the Global Baku Forum is proof of this, former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers told Report.
He stressed that Latvia’s special attitude towards Azerbaijan will continue: “We are not going to lose the friendly relations that we have created over many decades.”
Zatlers noted that Latvia and Azerbaijan can also cooperate in the fight against climate change: “This is a global problem that requires a global solution and cooperation. We are looking forward to COP29. The Global Baku Forum will support preparations for this event, and we are absolutely confident that it will take place successfully because Azerbaijan has very good experience in organizing such forums and creating an open environment for discussions.”
He noted that the Global Baku Forum is also being held at a high level: “The first day of the Global Baku Forum is great proof that this forum is very successful. From the first minute of the start of this event, very active discussions are being held here.”
