Although the French government, which is worried about the establishment of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), has boosted pressure on the regions under colonial rule, international cooperation within this framework has expanded, Director of the Baku Initiative Group, Abbas Abbasov, said, Report informs.
Speaking at the conference on History, Modern Challenges, and the Expected Future at Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Abbasov emphasized that BIG will continue to support the regions suffering from colonial policy.
"Azerbaijan is combating colonialism and neocolonialism. The creation of BIG is a significant step to support the fair struggle of the colonies. Since the establishment of the group, BIG has held seven international conferences for seven months."
The director added that the French government is resorting to various forms of pressure on individuals and organizations fighting for independence in its overseas territories: "Azerbaijan promotes decolonization in the international arena and supports the just struggle of peoples suffering from colonialism. I am very proud to say that President Ilham Aliyev has highly appreciated the activity of the BIG.
