Azerbaijani MFA responds to French minister

Such statements of the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, which do not serve peace and stability in the region and display a one-sided pro-Armenian position, are unacceptable, Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said while answering the question on the French minister’s statement during her speech at the Ambassadors’ Conference, Report informs.

"Turning a blind eye to Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijani lands for nearly 30 years, Armenia's policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, genocide, and mass killings, the transformation of nearly 1 million Azerbaijanis into refugees and IDPs and the violation of their rights, the destruction and looting of Azerbaijani cities and villages, the destruction of Azerbaijan's culture and destruction of historical monuments, and the facts that Armenia has not stopped the military-political provocations after the 2020 war and has not completely withdrawn its armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, are examples of an illegal and immoral approach," the MFA official said.

Hajizada emphasized that within the framework of the national legislation, Azerbaijan is making efforts to reintegrate the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region into the political, social, and economic spheres of the country, and it is completely wrong to obstruct these efforts and make claims that a policy is being implemented in the direction of expelling the Armenian residents from the region.

"Once again, we call on the French side to put an end to such provocative ideas," he stressed.
