Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Pakistani Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, in Baku, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As noted, during the meeting, prospects for further development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, as well as regional cooperation issues were discussed.
The sides noted that the high-level mutual visits between the leaders of the two countries and foreign ministers, political consultation mechanisms, and regional cooperation platforms contribute to raising friendship and brotherhood to a higher level. The importance of further developing cooperation in political, economic, trade, high technology, defense, security, and other areas was emphasized.
The importance of mutual support within multilateral formats, including several regional and international organizations such as the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement, and Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was noted. The significance of Pakistan's election as a member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026 was highlighted.
The sides noted that there will be additional opportunities for meetings between country leaders within COP29, and this event would be a special opportunity for cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, the sides exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
