Montenegro’s head coach Dejan Raspopovic provided his post-match analysis after his side battled to a 1–1 draw with Thailand in their opening Group E fixture at the 2025 WMF World Cup in Baku.
Speaking to Report, Raspopovic admitted his team underperformed:
“We made a lot of mistakes. We played poorly,” he said. “I thought every player would be ready, but that wasn’t the case today. We’ve already put this match behind us and are fully focused on the upcoming games. Our goal is to reach the playoffs.”
Despite the disappointing result, the coach remains confident in Montenegro’s chances:
“I still believe we are the favorites in the group. But the reality on the pitch is different. Thailand played very well today, and we drew because we deserved to.”
Raspopovic also had high praise for the host nation, calling the tournament “excellently organized” and adding:
“This is my second World Cup, and everything here is great. We arrived in Azerbaijan two days ago, and I hope we get a chance to see more of Baku in the coming days.”
