Ukraine's public debt reaches $133B

Ukraine's public debt rose by $4 billion in July and reached nearly $133 billion, the country’s Ministry of Finance said, Report informs.
According to the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, the 2023 budget envisages increasing the maximum amount of public debt to $172.7 billion, which is 102.3% of the forecasted level of GDP for the next year. The 2023 state budget of Ukraine foresees a deficit of $38 billion.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the West to fully cover the deficit of the Ukrainian budget in 2023. In an interview with Ukrainian television last week, Zelenskyy said that he is hopeful that Western countries will restructure most of their foreign debt.
