Ukraine appeals to Mastercard, Visa to stop servicing banks in Russia, Belarus

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has appealed to the international payment systems Mastercard, Visa and American Express with a request to stop servicing all banks in the Russian Federation and Belarus, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko announced on his Facebook page, Report informs referring to Ukrainian media.
“Now I personally addressed the heads of Mastercard, Visa and American Express with a request to stop servicing all banks of the Russian Federation and Belarus. In this situation, sanctions can’t be too much. The adoption of such a decision will make transactions impossible with the cards of these international payment systems and isolate cardholders from the global financial system.”
