Babayev: Participation of COP29 chairing country in Munich conference - good chance to discuss climate initiatives

The participation of Azerbaijan, as the COP29 chairing country, in the Munich Security Conference is a good chance to discuss initiatives for success in the field of climate change, Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, President of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev said at a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference, according to Report.

"Last week we visited United Arab Emirates to talk with other group of the countries. Next week we are planning to visit Nairobi, Kenya, and to participate in different discussions regarding initiatives coming from Africa, from African countries, from other countries of the region. At the same time, we are now in the listening process," he said.

"We'd like to, as much as possible, to absorb different initiatives, different ideas from the whole group of the countries. At the same time, I think it will be very good chance also to make the leadership for this process and to have the good decisions in Baku," the minister said.

This year, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.

The decision was made at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 last year.
