The voting process continues normally within the constituency boundaries, Rasul Jafarov, Chairman of the Constituency Election Commission No.117 of Oghuz-Gabala-Shaki, told Report.
The chairman stated that the voting process continues in accordance with the rules at all precincts in the constituency:
"A total of 55,065 voters are registered in 64 precincts across the constituency, of them 332 are participating in elections for the first time. There is a voter over the age of 100.
Overall, 251 candidates are competing for 121 seats in 11 municipalities. As many as 941 observers are monitoring the voting process. The polling stations are fully equipped with technical equipment, web cameras have been installed, and all conditions have been created for electors to vote freely."
The municipal elections in Azerbaijan are being held at 5,846 polling stations covering 118 electoral districts. In total, 16,092 candidates are competing for 8,071 seats in 685 municipalities.
The voting will run until 19:00 (GMT+4).
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 5,961,987 voters are eligible to participate in the elections.
January 29 has been declared a non-working day in Azerbaijan due to the elections.
