The city of Lachin, Azerbaijan, has hosted the opening of the Second Life exhibition.
According to Report, the event was organized on August 26 – Lachin City Day by the Ministry of Culture and the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin, with support from the Arts Council Azerbaijan art platform.
The exhibition's main concept is the transformation of old, damaged, and unusable carpets –especially Karabakh carpets – into new works of art through painting.
Professional artists have created pieces on carpets that merge traditional weaving with a modern artistic vision, covering themes such as Karabakh, folklore, music, motherhood, and migration.
The project aims to revitalize cultural heritage, promote Azerbaijani visual art, and raise public ecological awareness. Alongside encouraging carpet reuse, the exhibition also reflects relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action.
The displayed works were met with great interest from visitors.
