Baku. 9 May. REPORT.AZ/ Wax sculpture of Adolf Hitler on his knees by Italian Maurizio Cattelan was auctioned for an eye-watering 17.2million USD at Christie's auction in New York, Report informs citing BBC.
The sculpture titled 'Him' of 101 cm made 15 years ago from wax and resin. Maurizio Cattelan, Italian self-taught artist, who works in the US, considered destroying the piece of work several times. According to the sculptor, 'Him' statue is an image of terrible pain. A statue of Hitler on his knees was auctioned for a record-setting. The previous record for a work by 55-year-old Cattelan was 7.9 million USD for a statue featuring a wax statue of himself peeping out of a hole in the floor.
