The Armenian people, known for their "eternally offended and suffering" stance, continue to appeal to the world for "justice." This mentality has become an integral part of their national identity, passed down from generation to generation. However, this mindset is detrimental to Armenians themselves and hinders their ability to build a better future. Regardless of their location - be it France, the United States, Africa, or any other part of the world - representatives of the nation consider this the foundation of their unity and a component of their identity.
One of the most active and well-known instruments of such pressure is the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). The organization spends vast sums on lobbying activities, and of course, this is not their personal money. The leadership of ANCA and similar organizations engages in "brainwashing" wealthy and less affluent Armenians worldwide, attracting millions in donations while promising to achieve the infamous "justice."
However, ANCA's attempts to promote a one-sided interpretation of historical events, shape public opinion in the United States, and influence decision-making in the US Congress and other government bodies often prove unsuccessful. Yet, they must report to their Armenian donors and demonstrate how effectively their donations are being spent on advancing the "national goal."
This leads to statements like the recent one from ANCA Chairman Raffi Hamparian, who laments that "despite ongoing Congressional efforts to legislatively block US military aid to Azerbaijan, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the Fiscal Year 2025, passed by the Senate and sent to President Biden for signature, did not include many provisions against the country."
The average person may not know that the Pentagon's budget cannot include such provisions. But continue paying, Armenian brothers; ANCA is working tirelessly and spending your money as intended...
It doesn't matter that despite "strong bipartisan support," the House Rules Committee rejected all proposed pro-Armenian and anti-Azerbaijani amendments. In the end, a couple of congressmen and senators who exclusively "care" for Armenian interests cannot oppose the majority, who prioritize American interests.
For instance, Senator Gary Peters (Democrat from Michigan), ensured the inclusion of a provision in the Senate version of the NDAA to expand engagement with Armenia, including exercises and other security cooperation. However, it was removed from the final version of the bill, as ANCA disappointedly points out. Nevertheless, "it remains committed to working with Congress and the Administration to advance US-Armenia policy that prioritizes strategic partnership and ensures the security of Armenia's borders."
So, continue to suffer and shed tears, but most importantly, keep paying, because ANCA and its ilk must have something to live on...
