Azerbaijan sharply increases purchase of sesame seeds from main supply market

Azerbaijan imported 292.2 tons of sesame seeds (+59%) worth $629,000 (+71%) in the first half of this year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, the country purchased 185.5 tons (+76%) worth $390,000 (+76%) from India, 52 tons worth $119,900 from Pakistan (there was no supply a year ago), 24.3 tons (+28 times) worth $67,100 (+13 times) from Türkiye, 30.2 tons (+7.7 times) worth $51,400 (+7.8 times) from Iran, and 40 kg (+66.7%) worth of $400 (+71%) from Russia.

India accounted for 62% of the 346 tons of sesame seeds imported to Azerbaijan (from 10 countries) in 2022.
