Azerbaijan resumes rice imports from two countries

In January-July of this year, 38,928 tons of rice (+5.7%) worth $35 million (+12%) were brought to Azerbaijan from foreign countries, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Azerbaijan received 34,366 tons (+31%) worth $31.1 million from India (+26%), 1,943 tons (+18 times) worth $1.61 million (+26 times) from China, 1,231 tons (+85%) worth $1 million (+2.2 times) from Pakistan, 445.4 tons (-90%) worth $335,400 (-88%) from Kazakhstan, and 428 tons (-58 %) worth $312,000 (- 59 %) from Thailand.

After a break of 2 years and 9 months, Azerbaijan resumed the supply of rice from Myanmar (0.9 tons worth $1,710) and after 1 year and 5 months from Portugal (20 kg worth $120).

Of the 50,236 tons of rice imported to Azerbaijan (from 22 countries) in 2022, 74.8% came from India, 11.5% from Kazakhstan, and 8.3% from Russia.
