Azerbaijan resumes import of rice from Australia

In January-November 2023, Azerbaijan imported 50,959 tons (5.75% more YoY) of rice for $46.4 million (14% more YoY), Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 42,589 tons of rice (+19%) from India for $39.5 million (+21%), 3,200 tons (+30 times) from China for $2.62 million (+43 times), 2,232 tons (+2.2 times) from Pakistan for $1.81 million (+2.4 times), 1,221 tons (+412 times) from Vietnam for $997,000 (+295 times), 970 tons (-21%) from Thailand for $705,000 (-25%).

After 3 years and 4 months, Azerbaijan resumed imports of rice from Australia (25 tons for $20,250).

Of the 50,236 tons of rice imported into Azerbaijan (from 22 countries) in 2022, 74.8% came from India, 11.5% from Kazakhstan and 8.3% from Russia.
