The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Rustem Umerov as the new Minister of Defense, RBC-Ukraine with reference to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
This decision was supported by 338 lawmakers.
This post was previously held by Oleksii Reznikov. Yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada supported his resignation from the post of defense minister. His decision was preceded by various scandals over possible corruption purchases for the army. After Reznikov, three deputy defense ministers resigned today.
