Erdogan: Türkiye to host peace talks again in near future

Just as the negotiation table between Russia and Ukraine was set up in Istanbul, in the not-too-distant future, the peace table will be set up in Türkiye again, and the bloody war will be ended, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after the Cabinet meeting.

Erdogan stated that Türkiye has pursued a balanced policy that advocates for peace regarding this war: "The grain corridor and prisoner exchange are the result of our belief in peace. After the first round of discussions organized on May 16, a thousand prisoners were exchanged. After the second round that took place on June 2, the bodies of 7,060 Ukrainian soldiers were exchanged for the remains of 97 Russian soldiers."

The president also said that after the third round that took place on July 23, at least 1,200 prisoners were exchanged: "We believe that this war needs to end now. At every opportunity, we say that we are ready to host."
