CIA Director General: Russia may use chemical weapons in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to have the ultimate goal in the war against Ukraine, CIA Director General William Burns said at a meeting of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Report informs.

According to him, Russia may use chemical weapons.

The director-general said that Russia would not be able to keep the truth in Ukraine secret indefinitely.

Burns stressed the need to pay attention to the potential use of chemical weapons by conducting operations in Russia 'under the banner of another':

"It is part of the Russian methods that you all know very well. They used these weapons against their own citizens. They have encouraged the use of these weapons, at least in Syria and elsewhere. That is why we take it very seriously."
