41 fishermen rescued from ice floe in Sakhalin

Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued all fishermen from an ice floe torn off the coast of Sakhalin.

A total of 41 people were evacuated, the ministry said, Report informs via TASS.

Rescuers have evacuated 40 fishermen ashore who found themselves on a detached ice floe in the south of Sakhalin, the press service of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said, Report informs via TASS.

"Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia with the help of a Mi-8 helicopter evacuated 40 fishermen ashore near the village of Lesnoye in the Sakhalin region," the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The rescue operation continues at a distance of 1.5-2 km from the separation line, in difficult weather conditions, with strong winds.
