Protests start in Warsaw after detention of former interior minister, his deputy

As many as 300 people rallied in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw after the detention of former Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski and his deputy Maciej Wasik on charges of abuse of power, Report informs referring to the radio station RFM.

Kaminski and Wasik have been in the pre-trial detention center since January 9 evening. They were detained at the presidential palace in Warsaw, where they arrived at the invitation of the country’s President Andrzej Duda.

Eight years ago, they were sentenced to 3.5 years in prison under the article of abuse of power against the backdrop of the “land scandal.” But while the court decision came into force, they became deputies of parliament and members of the ruling Law and Justice party.
