France to spend €85 million to replenish stocks Caesar howitzers

France will spend €85 million to replace 18 Caesar self-propelled artillery units given to Ukraine, said Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces of the country, Report informs, citing BFMTV.

According to him, due to the transfer of these weapons to Ukraine, the stocks were reduced by 1/4 times.

"The package of €85 million will allow us to implement this addition. The issue is not to harm the training and educational plans of our shooters," the minister explained during the hearings at the Senate Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Lecornu noted that France had 76 Caesar howitzers before the start of military operations in Ukraine. It takes more than a year and a half to produce one unit.

"The stocks of artillery shells will be replenished next year," the French minister added.
