Deputy minister: Zangazur Corridor to serve as safe transit route

Zangazur Corridor will serve as the shortest and safest transit route between Europe, Central Asia, and China, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said, Report informs.

Hummatov made the announcement at the round table themed "Zero emission sea, cargo logistics, and transport" organized on the 2nd day of Baku Climate Action Week.

He noted that the green transformation of the transport sector can be achieved by increasing the use of environmentally friendly vehicles, adopting sustainable public transport programs, building the necessary infrastructure, and increasing sustainable travel alternatives for passengers:

"Azerbaijan is taking important steps in the transformation of its transport routes by investing in strategic infrastructure. After restoring the country's territorial integrity, the Azerbaijani leadership is strengthening our commitment to become a major player in Eurasian logistics with the opening of the Zangazur Corridor,” the deputy minister highlighted.

“The volume of transit cargo passing through the territory of Azerbaijan increased from 5.7 million tons to 13.4 million tons in 2019-2023. Azerbaijan, along with its partners, is committed to green transformation initiatives along the Middle Corridor," he said.
